French trains

I need to get from Beziers to Carcassone on a Saturday in June . I can see a lot of trains but wondered if anyone knows if it's necessary to prebook tickets or if you just turn up like you can in the uk ?
Hoping to avoid booking as. I'm not really sure what time we'll need to travel but equally don't want to be stuck if trains are 'full'
There will be 8 of us
Thanks if you have any insight you can share

Yes, I would book, particularly as you’re a group. Trains can get very full, especially if it’s part of a line to Paris or another big city. You can book on Trainline.

Formerly lived in France 12 years.

@brightnewlife . Thank you so much - I thought that may be the case but was hoping for maximum flex .
