Has anyone been? What was it like?

I’m thinking of going in February and trying out the spas.

It’s a really nice town with some lovely surrounding countryside. Probably wouldn’t want a fortnight there but we’ve been a few times en route to other destinations. The spas are great. But be warned about the German attitude to nudity. Some parts of the spa are ‘no costume’ areas, although there are parts where you can stay covered if preferred.

Beautiful! I spent about 5 days there a few years ago and had a lovely time. The spas are lovely but they are mostly fully nude. The main town is lovely. There is also some great surround Forrest areas to explore

Oh good! I actually prefer naked spas. It makes more sense not to be sweating through fabric.

DH is taking DS skiing in February HT and I work PT, so I thought a spa in a snowy place would be just right.

Any hotel recommendations? Not the really fancy ones.

It's a cute little townm but I didn't think the main SPA was the best in the region. I've tried several, and prefer Vita Classica in Bad Krozingen, or Caracalla in Badenweiler. (nothing wrong with Baden Baden though either)

Are the spas segregated by sex ( probably showing my Britishness but the idea of a mixed sex nude spa is my idea of a nightmare).

Baden-Baden in February is grim.

Think temperatures around freezing, damp, wet, clod & snow only a blip in the not so distant mountains...
"Nieselregen" is a speciality for these parts of the world - it can last for days!

It may have snow but it's not likely.

If you think of snow you need to go into ski resorts and look for a spa there.

No, it's mixed. Saunas are nude, pools/hot tubs etc are usually not. Many spas also have one day per week women-only, if you would want to go but not mingle with naked men.

Orangello · 24/05/2024 08:50

Oh and yes I totally agree with MarieAntoinette - if you want snow, don't go to Baden-Baden, you will likely be met with muddy town and icy rain. You need something higher up - most ski resorts would have spa hotels, so I'd rather look at those.

MinnieMountain · 24/05/2024 09:05

The snow isn’t the main reason. I spent a year living near Ravensburg, so I know what the weather can be like.

Well, I booked 😁

Can anyone recommend a restaurant for a nice dinner? And the best cafe/bakery?
