Club Farret in Vias Plage. Right on the beach and beside a village.

Glittertwins · 22/05/2024 17:24

Domaine des Naïdes also close to Port Grimaud.
We did the shuttle and drove down staying overnight en route.

Glittertwins · 22/05/2024 17:24

Might be a bit of a long walk back up the hill though!

Thank you. Whereabouts did you stop off on your drive @Glittertwins - and how long did it take? I’m thinking of July 25 so just early planning

La Chapelle in Argeles We stayed there last summer, everything is easily walkable.

Domaine des Naiades has rental options only I think - you can't take your own tent or van any more. We used to go there years ago for holidays and I remember the Olympic size pool - spent hours in there!! The main road at the bottom of the site gets horribly clogged in high season though, so will take you hours to get anywhere if driving.

Somewhere like Beaune, Macon or Villefranche would be a good stopping point but try and avoid the A7 on a Saturday - it's really slow south of Lyon.

We stopped off around Chalon sur Saône, a fairly standard Ibis I think. Also close to a large supermarket petrol station for filling the car up. We travelled Sat-Sun and did the majority of the driving on the Saturday. Can't say the traffic was any worse than the M25 really. If you are going to drive it, get a motorway tag, it saves so much time queuing at the toll booths.

Many years ago now but we stayed in Vias Plage. Was a jolly little place. Most recently we were going to stay in Camping Napoleon in the town. Didn't because of work commitments but will consider it again.

La Brasilia

Thank you for the recommendations!

thankfully we can travel down on Friday and back on Monday (with a fortnight in between!) which helps with the traffic. We have gone once before but not as far south. We did enjoy it but the weather was a bit mixed.

Walking will definitely be faster than taking the car. The 559 is nose to tail in the summer. At least you'll be close to the naturist beach though and you'll get a nice view of the superyachts and cruiseships. 😁
