This may sound ludicrous but can we take playdough on a flight?

Ok, I know it sounds ridiculous but my dd loves the stuff and I thought it would be ideal to while away a few mins on a longhaul trip. However, another friend queried whether I could carry it in hand luggage and I have to say I'd never considered it. Does anyone know? I have checked BAA website but it doesn't mention it specifically - but they don't let you take creams and stuff. Any thoughts?

Yes you can. Well you could when I flew long haul a year ago. Can't think of any reason why it would be a problem - it's not liquid is it?!

Don't be a moron like me and take four big tubs of it. Play doh weighs more than you think you know.

sure it'll be fine as not liquid, but do you really want to? will it not get everywhere?

Thank you - I was just thinking of a 3 or 4 of those tiny pots and a few rollers and cutters - nothing major but she will happily play with this for quite a while and to be honest, it will be last resort if books/dvds/other toys fail!!
Thanks again.

Amandella not a ludicrous question at all.

Definately check with both the airport and the airline.

Playdough looks an awful lot like semtex!!!

I have done a few times and there's been no problem - I took the smaller pots just in case and put it in my liquids plastic bag, again just in case.
