Child passport stress

Realised yesterday that my son’s passport is out of date. We go on holiday next Monday. Yes, I am aware I am an absolute idiot for not checking sooner, only myself to blame. Anyway, now that’s out of the way. Went to London this morning for the fast track week service and they said for a child passport it has to be on the system for 5 days before being sent out. Anyone have experience of this and how quickly they got it? Really hoping it comes on Saturday but I imagine it’s unlikely. Anyone know if passports can come on a Sunday? Thank you!

Hello we have the same issue! we had booked flights for Wednesday 29th May and realised my daughters passport had expired. We had the appointment at passport office yesterday morning at 8.30am for the 1 week fast track service. I have been calling to chase them since and they told me the same thing that they have to wait for 5 days apparently before it can be approved and then dispatched. Annoyingly it is bank holiday on Monday so no work or deliveries done then and the next working day is Tuesday. I have lost hope and think we might have to fly out separately with my daughter when her passport arrives unfortunately. Please can you let us know when you do receive your passport and hopefully you do receive it by Saturday. No deliveries on Sundays either im afraid.

It could arrive on a bank holiday as its sent by courier rather than royal mail

I’ve just done a child’s passport on the fast track and it arrived exactly a week after the London appointment (Thursday to Thursday). Sorry.

My passport has now been printed and waiting to hear from Royal Mail but really wanted it to come today. So annoying. My application was approved exactly to the minute 5 days after I submitted the application online. Then printed a few hours after which was yesterday. I have tried calling and calling but I really don’t think there’s any point, nobody can do a lot and aren’t really interested I’ve found. Guess everyone is ringing up saying the same thing! Good luck with yours too, makes holidays so stressful when it all goes wrong before it 🙈

I thought ours came back in under 4 days but that was a couple of years ago.
