Haven - Hopton or Caister for beach access?

Hi… I’m looking at bringing my two children ages 2 and 5 away for a few days either solo or with my mum who has mobility issues.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts of which site might be more accessible for the beach and facilities?

Cant decide between the two so any views on either would be appreciated!

thanks so much!

It’s been a while since we stayed at Caister, but from memory, there’s a wooden walkway to the beach but then there are steps down to the sand.

Between Hopton and Caister, I think Caister may be a bit better suited given your situation with young kids and needing accessibility.

Caister's beach tends to be nicer and flatter, without as many cliffs or steep steps that Hopton has in places. The water also tends to be calmer at Caister for little ones.

Facilities are better in Caister - more family-friendly cafes and restaurants within a shorter walk of the beach. Hopton is a bit more spread out.

If your mum joins, Caister would involve less walking overall too. There's a parking lot very close to the beach entrance.

Both are lovely spots though. Maybe look into accessible lodging options in Caister to give everyone the best beach experience.

I've stayed at both, I'd say Caister. Site is literally on the beach.

Thanks so much! Looks like Caister is the better option x

I've only stayed at Hopton but didn't have the best experience and the access to the beach is very steep
