If you could travel for a month in September/October, where would you go?

Would you stay in Europe and enjoy the great weather or would you go travelling around South East Asia?

Italy - beautiful time of year there. Start in the north and travel south.

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 18/05/2024 19:30

The Italy meander sounds cool.

Would you prefer to go to Singapore, then do a few shortish/several day excursions.
Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia?
Fun but a lot more frantic and far more jet lag.

Sicily

Moier · 18/05/2024 19:52

Greek island hopping.

mitogoshi · 18/05/2024 19:52

Budget dependent. For a month probably se Asia

Italy would be great, from the Dolomites making stops all the way down to Sicily by train, bus and boat. So many beautiful places to visit.
Southern Thailand and Malaysia I don't think are great at that time as it's rainy season.
Greek Island hopping sounds like another great option, I'd definitely want to include Santorini as it is just stunning and hopefully a little quieter at that time.

East coast America is beautiful and a wonderful temperature at that time - t shirt and shorts for September but not sweating. Virgina, West Virginia, the Carolinas, it makes a great roadtrip.

A lovely tour of the med!

shuffleofftobuffalo · 18/05/2024 20:04

I'd meander my way from the top of Italy to the bottom, beautiful and varied.

mondaytosunday · 18/05/2024 20:07

Australia if it's for that long. If short term Spain has lovely weather then.

If I had a month and a reasonable budget would go either to Asia including Borneo to see the wildlife or Australia to places like the Great Barrier Reef and with lots of wildlife like Atherton Tablelands (tree kangaroos etc) and Daintree. You might even be able to combine parts of both as flights can go via Singapore.

I've done a month Greek Island hoping and a month in Thailand in Sept, both absolutely amazing :)

Greek island hopping.

Yes! I'd love to do it, but far too hot in the high summer.

MissAmbrosia · 18/05/2024 20:27

Definitely a grand tour of Italy and Sicily. Maybe just Sicily or Puglia and Calabria.

BaconCozzers · 18/05/2024 20:29

I've always fancied an autumnal New England tour, and given a month it would be tempting ❤️

But, lots of good suggestions here too. I'd prob stay in Europe.

@ratteetattee

Rather than Asia, I'd go to South Africa. Great time for whales in Hermanus and in a month you could enjoy the Garden Route instead of rushing, ditto the Winelands, explore the Little Karoo, go up to KZN for the Drakenburgs and then visit Hluhluwe Imfolozi and then Kruger for game viewing.

I totally agree with East Cosst USA too. Philadelphia. Washington and Virgjnia are all great. Plus the Carolinas.

In Europe, meandering around France would be lovely. Ditto Italy. Plus Spain. You could have time to see northern Spain and less visited areas. Why not Germany? Fantastic cities and scenery.

Down the leg of Italy to Sicily and then finish in Malta and fly home

Inland Spain (away from the Costas). Start in Malaga city, then Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Merida, Cacares, Toledo, Madrid, Segovia, Salamanca, Valladolid, Santander, Bilbao, San Sebastian. Incredible.

I did that in stages, not all at once, I wish I'd had the time to do it all together! The trains and coaches in Spain are very good and inexpensive for getting around too.
