Recommendation short-haul from UK end Oct

We are looking at going away end October, 2 adults, 4 nights.
Short-haul from UK as want to minimise travel time/maximise holiday time.
It's a 'big' birthday celebration for me, and first time away as a couple without kids. Unsure whether we want cultured city break or easy hotel package holiday in the sun!
Any recommendations for places that will still be warmish at that time of year, and any advice on pros/cons of city-break appreciated!

Sorrento
Rome
Palermo

Package holiday - Canaries, Morocco, Madeira would be my only really short haul recommendation if you want as guaranteed as possible warm enough weather for sunbathing / swimming / beach. Potentially also Cyprus and parts of Turkey.

Marrakech and Seville are your best bets for sun/not rain

Or go somewhere like Rome, Florence or Barcelona where you might get sun but there’s lots of indoor culture options if the weather is iffy

I would look for a really nice hotel and a city break. Weather can get unpredictable and you would need at least 4 hour flight to the Canaries or Cyprus I think.

The last two years in the western Mediterranean have been glorious in late October, but the weather can be quite unstable and you can have a couple of solid days of Welsh Weather™. So I would suggest looking for "a city near a beach" rather than "a beach near a city", if that makes sense.

Funchal, Madeira. Amazing mix of sunshine and city break. So much to see and do, beautiful old town. Absolute hidden gem!

Seville should be a good choice.

Malaga is beautiful at that time of year
