Hello all! Looking to book a laid back beach vacation & wanted to know if anyone has been to Cefalu/ Palermo in June & how busy should we expect it to be? Looking for a non busy & easy beach vacay (like everyone else! ha!). We were recently in Antibes based on your recs here & absolutely loved it & hoping for someone to come through on this post as well. If not Cefalu, any other suggestions (with easy flights from LHR to Italy, Switzerland?). Also, welcome any hotel suggestions in Cefalu too.
PS- no car ideas only please. Thank you!

I haven’t been to Cefalu in June for several years - I believe it is busier in June now than pre-Covid from anecdotal evidence but I’ve got no hard data to back that up. It’s less busy than July or August, though, as would be expected.

we’re thinking of doing Tropea in Calabria this summer - Ryanair are flying Stansted to Lamezia Terme and then there is a direct train from the airport to Tropea

Ah just see you want Heathrow flights, sorry - I’ll have another think!

You could fly into Brindisi and get the train down to Polignano a Mare or fly into Naples and get the hydrofoil over to Ischia.

We were there at the beginning of June last year. A lovely place. We arrived on the Italian Republic day June 2nd, it was busy, mostly Italians. After that weekend it was quieter, but with a pleasant buzz. Lots of great restaurants at all prices. We had a couple of treat dinners, but found a lovely family run restaurant called Lilies on Piazza Bagini Cicerone.
