Holidays how much do you spend?

Hi all, I was thinking earlier about how much we're spending on our holidays this year and wondered what everyone else's budgets and spends are. Just curiosity more than anything. We are going to Turkey twice this year and have been totting up the whole things are costing in the region of £15k. That includes 2 weeks for 2 adults and 2 children self catering, 1 week for 2 adults self catering, spends and clothes. Granted everyone's budget differs greatly but like I said I'm just curious.. oh and sick of spending now 🙈 and just want to go haha. Look forward to hearing everyone else's no matter how big or small, aslong as your all together. ❤️

Any time I'm not at work I'm abroad so it's a lot 😂

CpOb · 14/05/2024 17:01

There was a thread exactly this a couple of days ago.

What hotels have you booked OP? That's a lot of money! I'm going to side next week!

effoffwind · 14/05/2024 18:14

I went 10 days AL to Side 4 years ago for £550

ReadtheReviews · 14/05/2024 18:50

2 adults 2 children 5k to go to the US. Including flights, activities and food, hire car, some accommodation but mostly at.family's.

ChilliPB · 14/05/2024 22:05

We spent £15k in Japan but stayed for a month and travelled around and stayed in some amazing places. No way would I spend that amount for self catering in Turkey for three weeks - but that’s just cos it wouldn’t be worth that for me. The main question surely is whether you can afford it and it’s worth it for you?

Same! Where are you staying?

I reckon we’ll spend around £12k this year on holidays

£2k for Turkey next week
£5/6k for Greece in the summer for 2 weeks
£2k on a winter break for me and DH

The rest of the money goes on dog boarding fees, clothes etc.

Chickdaft · 15/05/2024 19:37

That’s a ton on money for sc in Turkey op? I’m also going twice this year, both self catering and one with family and second with friends and even looking at say 1.5k (min) spends each per adult plus costs of apartments, it comes nowhere near yours? This will include private transfers and various trips, oh and shopping within baggage allowance?

Chickdaft · 15/05/2024 19:42

Next year I have a Simpsons one in a different area (quieter) with another friend but again it’s not that expensive compared to many.

Dontmesswithmyhead · 18/08/2024 13:31

Well our summer holiday cost £45k, sounds like a bargain OP. We spend a lot though and I recognise that.

Goldenmemories · 18/08/2024 13:34

3 night city break in Europe with cheap flights in August: £700 all in
Next year we are going to Spain for 6 nights, £1100 for flights and apartment.
Always in school holidays for on adult and two teens

fussychica · 18/08/2024 14:17

Retired couple so have the luxury of avoiding most school holidays. We are away a lot but always short haul. We probably use most of our Schengen allowance so up to 180 days per year.
We ferry/drive on some of our long trips and fly on others. We don't stay in hotels that often as we usually rent villas in resorts and apartments on city breaks. We like a lot of bang for our buck so mainly self cater and are always at home for July and August. We are spending a similar amount to you.

Wafflefudge · 18/08/2024 14:40

We've just spent £2,200 in total on a week in Europe during summer holidays. This includes all food, days out etc.
We'll be spending about £3k in total on another Europe trip in October.
Both self catering.

Hahahaha 😂

Not sure if that’s sarcasm, hysteria, laughing at our stupidity, or what really?! … possibly all. OP said she was curious, and it’s not like I’d EVER tell anyone in real life.

We had a week in canaries in April, week in UK in June, off to Spain in October and november. Just two adults. Bed and breakfast or self catering. Holidays in total cost about £4k. Spending money probaley about another £3k. So £7k in total for the year.

Gladtobeout · 18/08/2024 23:31

On average, 1k a year for family of 5. But our money goes on school fees instead. Eldest will finish this year so hopefully be able to start affording long-haul again next year.
