Is Sandaya Cypsela too hectic?

We are looking at staying in one of the lodges there for one week in August. They’re very pricey at £2k. We are not normally campers and have never done Eurocamp etc before. BUT we are after somewhere where our DC - 13 and 10 - can make friends and swim.

It will be in the middle of a longer driving holiday from the UK through France and back again.

DH wants to take them to northern coast of Spain so we can pop into Barcelona and Girona for day trips.

We are normally explorers rather than package holiday types but the DC get fed up with my desire to find the best beach, food market, small town and museum and will want to relax somewhere.

In an ideal world, we would have friends or family to share some - though not all - of the holiday with but it’s not going to happen this year.

Left on our own, we may kill each other over screen time etc anyway!

Can anyone recommend somewhere if not Sandaya (which sounds very busy and a bit crowded but has a tempting pool!)

Is there a small resort on the Costa Brava that may meet these needs or nice apartments with shared pools? Nothing on booking.com has grabbed me yet.

My sister and her family have been going there for years and my DD1 has gone with them this year. They just arrived today. They have three boys and have never said it's been too busy.
