Tobago, what's it really like?

We have been to a fair number of Caribbean islands, but never Tobago. We are thinking of going for a pre-christmas week.

We have heard very mixed reports, especially around safety.

Has anyone been? It seems quite reasonable in comparison to other islands.

I loved Tobago. Everyone we met were incredibly friendly and so welcoming. There is a lot to do and see and the weather was amazing. The beach was beautiful and it was a very chilled vibe

It's lovely - has the oldest protected rainforest in the western hemisphere! Very friendly people and some lovely beaches. We've been 5 times and ended up getting married in the village we live there with all the village coming.

We went 20 years ago and loved it, felt very safe and people were uniformly lovely. Trinidad was quite different, I think people often lump the two together. I’d happily go back.

I like it. We went all over and didn't feel unsafe.
