Hi we’re going on a USA road trip and stopping off in Nashville . We’re going to be booking tickets at the Grand Ole Oprey
Has anybody been ? Any advice on booking seating and duration of the show please ?

We've been and loved it. We went to one of the radio show performances (or whatever they're called) which is a number of artists performing and funny adverts that are performed between the sets. It was very random but excellent.

The seats are a long hard bench for something like 6 seats so not the most comfortable. Just sit as close to the stage as you can get - it's a great experience!

Are you going in the summer or winter? In the summer the show is broadcast from the Grand Ole Opry which is about 20 minutes out of downtown so it's preferable to stay at the Opryland hotel but in the winter it moves to The Ryman which is right in the centre of Nashville.
The show only lasts about 90 minutes. When you book your tickets you'll be able to see some of the artists who are performing but others get added on as you get closer. Carrie Underwood was added last minute when I last went!
Try to book centrally located seats as there are pillars to the sides in the Grand Ole Opry (I don't remember noticing any in The Ryman).
As already mentioned, it's all long benches rather than individual seats but you still have plenty of space.

Thankyou so much for your replies we’re going in July . A travel agent has booked our seats the map is over whelming but I’ve attached it
I think if I’m correct they’re to the side .
what do you think we don’t want obstructed viewing

The Ryman is very open and from memory i don't think your view will be particularly restricted from those seats, The stage is pretty big. Have fun We really enjoyed going. We saw Old Dominion, Rascal Flats and Charlie Daniels when we went. It was amazing.

We will be seeing it at the Ole Grand Oprey as it’ll be in the Summer a previous post mentioned that there are pillars to the side

we can’t wait to go

I think those are great seats, the pillars are further back and more to the side so you should have no obstructions.

YouBetYourBippy · 13/05/2024 12:42

I think those seats will be fine. Enjoy it - it's a fabulous experience!

It's a weird old thing, but good fun. When we went, we saw all sorts of random people, all great even if they weren't acts we'd have wanted to see a whole evening of.

Bear in mind it starts remarkably early, don't assume that it will only really get going at normal UK concert time.

The Ryman is a lovely venue, should you get the chance to get there another day.

I feel so stupid, I've just spent a stupid amount of money on a premium package including a tour assuming it was at the Ryman Auditorium, I had no idea it was moved in the summer :(

BackToWhereItAllBegan · 27/11/2024 22:06

@jkshdqpr the Grand Ole Opry's permanent home is the venue they use in the spring & summer so there's plenty of history to see if you're doing the backstage tour there. The Ryman is much smaller so I think you'll have a better experience with the package you've booked!

jkshdqpr · 27/11/2024 22:10

@BackToWhereItAllBegan thank you, I really appreciate that. Now to see if I can get the tickets changed from the disabled access ones they mistakenly assigned to me, not having a good evening!
