Romantic idea - is it realistic?

I've always had this romantic idea of hiring a cottage right next to the sea - like in a harbour, close enough to hear the waves, in winter when it's stormy snuggled in with a log burner watching the waves -

BUT no matter how much I look, I can't actually find anything that close to the sea 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Any suggestions or have I just got to give up on the idea?

Yes I have done this a few times.

Once was from a friend of a friend but the other time it was through a lettings site.

Cottages.com have a filter which is waterside retreats which will pull up a load.

I went here:

Have you looked in Aldeburgh? I haven’t stayed in a cottage there but did stay in a hotel almost on the beach where you could hear the sea

Oh wow! Thank you - some great suggestions here 😁

Well we live in Shropshire - totally landlocked 🤣 anywhere within a 3-4 hour drive really 😊

This place is beautiful. Right on the Pembrokeshire coastal path and close to Porthgain and St. Davids. I've not stayed here yet but have paddleboarded in the sheltered cove.

These cabins are fab: https://crastercoastalcabins.com/

Amazing location, right next to the sea, lovely wood burner, comfy bed, and a short coastal walk to Craster. May work or might not be quite sea-adjacent enough, in which case, Craster itself has lots of rentals.
