November - One Week - Where to go?

Have a week of annual leave to use in November. Where would you go?

We like scuba diving and warmer weather. We are thinking about Sharm el Sheikh because its astonishingly cheap and not too far. But do wonder if we'd prefer somewhere more tropical.

Egypt is the nearest for warm weather and diving I think. Caribbean would be ok if autumn storms have gone. Not sure what Kenya is like for diving these days. DH did it decades ago!

How about Cuba?

TizerorFizz · 09/05/2024 07:58

Cuba for 1 week misses out actually seeing Cuba if you want diving. Seems a shame.

TizerorFizz · 09/05/2024 07:59

Just to add: Kenya coast misses out the best of Kenya too!

I’ve heard that the weather in Italy is very pleasant in November

TeamGeriatric · 09/05/2024 21:46

Not been, but Oman would be nice at that time of year.

Where in Italy? Sicily perhaps, but not in the North or Tuscany, Umbria, Marche - cold and rainy.

I have been to Dubai and Mauritius for one week holidays in November and both were very good holidays.

Caribbean, you get some decent bargains that time of year as the weather isn't quite settled but it's usually a quick shower late afternoon and it's done for the day.

We were in South Texas in November; very pleasant temperatures. Much cooler in the northern part of the state

Don't go to Dubai - no diving there. You could go to Fujairah though (east coast of UAE and about 90 mins from Dubai if you go to Al Aqah) but you need to be ok with having little else to do. DH said the wreck dive he did near Muscat (we have stayed at Shangri La Al Husn and Jumeirah Muscat Bay) was one of the best he's done in the region, but Oman can be really expensive for eating out.

Other diving locations if you are ok with a longer flight - Maldives (but $$$) and Thailand. We just booked to go to Katathiri near Phuket in December and it's half the cost of the Maldives.

We dived in Eilat and that was great to combine with hoping over the Egypt and other tours. Not quite sure what the travel situation is right now though, so not sure it would be great. We did some diving off Jordan but the coral damage was shocking. We are heading to Oman next November but not diving, the weather will be great and the activities varied - doing the balcony trek, 4 x 4 desert trips, muscat etc,
