Paris in the summer - are we mad or is this doable?

For various reasons, we have been thinking about going to Paris AFTER the Olympics, so perhaps from the 17th onwards. Does anyone have any thoughts on how wise this is? Will Paris still be full of Olympics attendees several days after the main games are finished? It looks like the Paralympics starts later, from the 28th.

Ds went to Paris when interailing last year, said it was awful, half the attractions were closed dye to industrial action including Eiffel Tower, they ended up coming home 3 days early.

We were there last summer with a family of teens . Was very warm ( July ) but apart from that , was amazing !
Hopefully should be quieter after the games ?

I think everyone goes home. Many don’t go to closing ceremony and why hang about? I think you’d be ok but check hotel prices. That will tell you if it’s busy or ok.

Thanks for responses. I’m thinking about going to the southern Netherlands on the ferry instead! France just sounds a bit too risky and I’ve also heard some bits of Paris might be inaccessible due to security.

I’m guessing a lot of visitors will hang around - come for the Olympics and then stay another week for shopping/sightseeing etc.

The hotel prices will be less crazy but the security overload will still be in place for the Paralympics. Paris will still be there next year. Go in May.

I went with DD in July last year and it was 29 degrees and it was lovely weather walking around in our dresses and trainers.

Perfect actually.

Paris in August once the Olympics are over will be hot and dead.

Paris usually half closes down in August, due to holiday season.

I can't say I'd recommend.
