Just as an example, we love Vilamoura in Portugal but I'm looking for recommendations for somewhere similar for a very short weekend break. The wish-list would be:
- Short flight from the UK
- Hot, sunny weather in June or July
- Less than an hour to transfer from airport to resort
- Hotel with a pool - even better if there isn't a scrum for sunbeds at some stupid time in the morning
- Plenty of local restaurants and bars for lunch and evening meals. Not all inclusive.
- Ideally a harbour/marina or somewhere to sit and watch the world go by. By the sea rather than a city break.
It would be for 2x adult couples celebrating a birthday.
We're not bothered about a sandy beach or doing anything particularly cultural. Just want to fly out on a Friday morning, be by the pool by lunchtime, enjoy a stroll and some good food in the evenings and then fly home on Monday afternoon.
Would be very grateful for any suggestions for somewhere new to try.
