Nice quiet (ish) hotel with direct beach access where it’s safe to swim in the sea?

Weirdly specific requests I know but ….

Looking for somewhere for us all (dh, dd aged 12 who has autism and me - complex health needs).

Last year we stayed in Cala Pada in Ibiza and had a lovely time - one of the things Ds loved more than anything was being able to swim in the sea. The beaches were very safe, areas netted off for swimming, life guards, etc etc. We would like to go somewhere different but I know Ds would be disappointed if he didn’t have the same opportunity to swim in the sea as he did before. (Ibiza was our first family holiday abroad).

He really doesn’t cope well with busy resorts, babies and toddlers, noisy places etc. His dream holiday would be somewhere with mainly older people as they’re nice and quiet, (!), lots of nice restaurants and places to eat, good wifi for downtime and a quiet but safe beach for swimming.

Any ideas? Been driving myself mad on the various holiday sites etc going between Menorca, Turkey, Greece etc but I’m not familiar with what the sea is like in the resorts for swimming so would prefer some proper recommendations if anyone has any. Or places to avoid?!

Or we could just go back to Ibiza but hoping to do something different!

Any huge family type resorts with splash parks, kids clubs, play areas are a huge no no re sensory issues with lots of other children etc. We’d be going during term time (he’s at specialist school and they are okay with us taking him out for a holiday).

Look up Madeira. Canico baio (not sure on the spelling) is very quiet. Lovely Riu hotel and there is a little beach you can swim in calm waters.

Ooo thank you! Not somewhere I’d even considered so I will definitely investigate.

Stayed here with dd. Right next to beach and has pool. You can walk back from beach 10 metres and shower off sand in the hotel pool outdoor shower.. Lovely food . Very accommodating if your ds has food preferences they would cater. Lots of choice. Mostly grown ups. We did half board . Public bus takes you to nearly towns.

Oh and the beach is great for swimming. You can hire kayak too. You can get bus to pollensa port then a regular boat to other nice beaches.

Older crowd yes people who go back every year. You get your same table every night for dinner.

This looks really nice. I’ve just had a search for the dates we would want to go though - late May next year - and they have no availability sadly but this is definitely the sort of thing we’re looking for! Thank you for sharing.

Try contact hotel directly? They also do via jet 2 or book hotel and flights separate. Try slightly different dates?

There is a very small private beach at Minos Beach Art Hotel in Crete which ticks all your boxes re quiet etc. but if you don't mind climbing down a ladder into the sea directly from platforms built over the rocks it's absolutely perfect for sea swimming - we swam many times a day off the
Platforms and it was perfect.
