Can anyone recommend a good family holiday destination in the states that would suit me, dh and ds, other than Florida. Hope to go August/September when ds will be 27 months.
Cheers, Ali x

Hi Disneystar

DH and I went to San Francisco, Las Vegas and New York for 3 years in a row - we absolutely loved it; don't know if it would be a suitable trip though for ds though so this year we'd probably be looking for a bit of sightseeing/bit of beach, things to see and do that would suit ds, preferabbly hotel in a central location. Not keen on doing the theme parks. I know it's all quite vague so I'd appreciate any advice or help you could give me. Thanks

I'm biased, but Chicago is great.

Big city with beaches & lots of museums suitable for toddlers.

have a look here for links

Another biased one - come to Colorado has everything other than the sandy beaches here. Great places for young and old alike. Mountains, lakes, weather in August/September is normally fabulous - long sunny days with good temps (not too hot) no humidity unlike Florida.

There's great places to go for railroads (Durango) and loads of famous museums.

We were in Vermont last year - fab, we are now going to go back every two years.

I'm rather partial to California (where I live). At that time of year, if you don't mind driving, you could do a fabulous trip across deserts through California, Arizona, Nevada. Stay in motels. Visit indian sites and natural wonders, state parks, hoover dam. Oooh now I want to go along too.
