Almunecar - Costa Tropical

We're going to Almunecar in June this year and wondered if anyone has been and could tell me what it's like?

Is the beach ok, nice restaurants etc? I've tried looking on the web but can't find many tourist reviews, just holiday websites.

Thanks

(Possibly should have posted this before I booked the holiday! )

we went in oct a few years ago, pre-twins! It was quiet but lovely, though end of season so prob livelier in June, lots to do in the area too

Thanks! We prefer quiet really now we've got ds (who will be 7 months when we go). Trying to stay away from lager louts!

I definitely didn't find it lager loutish at all, I would have hated it! where are you staying?

The Victoria Playa Hotel. To be honest I kind of stumbled across it because i was actually looking for the Victoria Playa in Menorca!

Found this in Almunecar and thought ooh that looks nice, i'll book it!

We went for the day. We liked it. The sea front is not beautiful, but the beach is fine. There are plenty of restaurants and bars. It's not a quaint village, but it's not quite as brash as Benidorm either.
You can use it as a good base to see other places like Nerja and Salobrena.

We went to Almunecar when DD was just 3 months old for a couple of nights in May, staying at the Melia hotel. We really liked the place. Not at all lager loutish. Beach is OK, though not brilliant. Had nice paella on the sea front and in oldd town. There's a free bird park to wander around. Good base for Nerja too. Have a nice time!
