Hi, need a bit of help. looking to book a city bread for myself and my partner around September time. has anyone got any suggestions, were looking at:

2 nights, 3 days
only a few hours on a plane from Manchester
not Venice or amsterdam
somewhere with food food and go can for a mooch around through out the day.

I did exactly that in Lisbon - it was brilliant. Good public transport, food is fabulous (except for salt cod - tastes like turpentine) lots to see and do, warm, friendly.

Oktoberfest in Munich starts mid-September. Prices shoot up but it’s an incredible atmosphere. Munich is excellent for food at all times of the year, but especially during Oktoberfest.
Copenhagen is really pleasant in September. Prices are high but the food is great.

Istanbul would be interesting but at 4hrs the flight might be too long.

So many..... look at Manchester's list of destinations, and then maybe start whittling it down.

Depends on your budget, price varies a lot. At the nice but more modest end i would recommend Budapest. At the higher end Copenhagen

malaga. great city for mooching, lovely food, museums. lots of flight options.

I was about to say Seville or Malaga! So agree with two pp...

Stockholm, Oslo or Reykjavik. Copenhagen is great. None are cheap but all worth it for different reasons. Nice is fantastic in Sept and has outstanding food and the railway goes to Monaco! Mooch around with the money.

Seville, Lisbon and Porto are great. Brussels has its attractions and Berlin too. Anywhere in Italy! Bologna is a hidden gem and take a short train ride to Ravenna. Vienna is wonderful and Geneva is pretty but not cheap. Easy trip into city from airport.
