Hi,

We're looking for a staycation this year, abroad next year.

We love the pool at centerparcs but it's expensive. Is there anywhere else in Midlands, Wales or south with a pool as good?

Thanks

The pool at Bluestone is absolutely not better than (or even as good as) a Centre Parcs pool. Bluestone itself is nicer than Centre Parcs but the pool is nothing special.

Nowhere quite as nice as CP, but definitely recommend Hafan Y Mor and it has the added bonus of a beach.

StaycationHmm
Why isnt going away in the UK a holiday?
Staycation means staying at home and going for day trips.

I was going to say Bluestone as a comparable holiday to center parcs but the pool is definitely not as good. It's still perfectly fine (has slides and a lazy river/rapids) and overall I much prefer the whole resort to centre parcs! And it's really close to some lovely coastline and well worth going off resort and exploring the nearby coastal towns xx

Butlins hotel at Bognor? Ok it's Butlins but if the pool is your criteria- it has a pretty good one!!

You could rent an Airbnb with a pool. We had a fab place ( Scotland unfortunately) with a shared pool. Didn't see another soul in the water even though it was August and close to a beach and amazing walks.

Almostwelsh · 29/04/2024 21:15

Bluestone isn't any cheaper than Center Parcs.amd the pool isn't as good.

Oooh, what was it called?!

The pool at Bluestone isn't a patch on Centerparcs. I don't hunk you'll find anywhere that has a better pool than CP in the UK

Alton Towers has a great WaterPark and Blackpool Sandcastle is but they are weekend breaks not really a holiday.

Knitgoodwoman · 29/04/2024 21:28

Butlins! They generally have a lazy river and good slides. Kids absolutely love it. The entertainment is free and great, sports clubs mostly free. Much better value than CP, CP is now a rip off and you get the same people (sorry if I sound like a snob). But people look down their nose at butlins, when we experienced far louder/rougher people at CP!

Oh god no!! It’s not a patch on CP. it’s really busy and over crowded and cold.
bluestones pool isn’t a patch on Cap either

It was Michael's Place in Garleston in the Borders . Unfortunately the owner if if the order ties died of old age about 2 months after we stayed. ( we were looking to rebook). He was a lovely chap. Fantastic place full of character.

It is slightly cheaper. We did direct comparison in Easter holidays and it was 2-300 more to go to CP same time if I remember rightly x

I think it must vary a bit depending on how many people and what dates. We holiday at the end of July and a like for like comparison has come out at 100 more for Bluestone compared to CP Whinfell.

Thanks everyone, some helpful ideas :)

Not what you asked but there are some lovely reasonably priced sites with great pools just the other side of the Channel. This is only really relevant if cost is a factor in your decision to not go abroad.
In particular www.capfun.co.uk look good for families, though I've not stayed at any.

CP are the best pools we've visited in UK but my kids do love Butlins too.

Camping holidays in France

Camping holidays in France, quality self-catering accommodation in France, family Holiday Parks with swimming pools and organised activities for children.

If you can afford to take Le Shuttle and don’t mind a drive at the other end then having a look in France/Belgium/Netherlands could be worth it. Yelloh Village parks and euro centerparcs are far better value than anything in the UK and better quality too. The pools are fab and you’ll be safer with the weather (excluding Brittany 🤣🤣🤣)
