Stop hair moose leaking on a flight?

Ce111 · 27/04/2024 12:50

Last time I went on holiday, my hair moose exploded/leaked everywhere on my way home (I had it in my checked luggage). I’m going on holiday again on Monday, does anyone have any recommendations to how I can stop it doing the same this time? I have really curly/frizzy hair and I couldn’t survive without taking hair moose!

Buy some there

BloodyAdultDC · 27/04/2024 12:51

Leave it behind?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/04/2024 12:51

You could buy your mousse in duty free, and take it into the cabin rather than in the hold, @Ce111.

Aswellisnotoneword · 27/04/2024 12:54

Try hair reindeer instead?

muddyford · 27/04/2024 12:56

Buy it when you get there. You could try elk for a change.

Moose!!!

On the loose!!!

Try a leash or a nappy if it's still leaking

Cas112 · 27/04/2024 13:01

Just leave it and buy more at home

TinyYellow · 27/04/2024 13:01

I can’t survive without taking mousse on holiday either, but I’ve never had a problem with the 5/6 cans that go in my suitcase. I do wrap them in a couple of carrier bags and then a beach towel just in case, and they go in the middle to prevent them being banged.

I think you must have just been unlucky.

TinyYellow · 27/04/2024 13:03

It might be too late now, but another idea is to order what you want to be collected at the airside Boots so you can carry it as hand luggage.

I know OP it is a problem for you but I can’t stop laughing. I’ve read your title 4 times and only clicked because I was intrigued what kind of holiday you were talking about.
On a plus side you definitely know how to attract attention, hope anyone with a helpful advice will come along soon.
I usually buy new and pack them into plastic bags additionally.

amylou8 · 27/04/2024 13:05

Buy it in boots airside and take it in your carry on.

Moose can be a problem when spilled

NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/04/2024 13:11

It's in a pressurised container, so going into the hold is always going to carry that risk - it's physics.

historygeek · 27/04/2024 13:14

Would a plastic pump action bottle be better than pressurised can? I use merwaves

TheCatIsInCharge · 28/04/2024 07:20

Buy it when you get there 🤷🏻‍♀️

TinselSniffer · 28/04/2024 07:30

I'm surprised they let you on with it. Is it an emotional support moose?

Funderthighs · 28/04/2024 07:33

I always put stuff like this in zip-loc bags from IKEA.

True, and it’s worth being aware that both hold and cabin are pressurized to the same level, so handbaggage vs. hold doesn’t change the risk.

It’s always worth sticking liquids in polythene bags.
