Rhodes: Where do we base ourselves in Rhodes

We booked flights to Rhodes now thinking where to base ourselves? We prefer not too overdeveloped or too busy; something more authentic with some taverns/restaurants. Easy to drive and explore the island, close to nice beaches

Pefkos is fab 😊 near to lindos. Lots of lovely restaurants and a nice beach. It’s more self catering so not ruined by all inclusives.

Thank you. Trying to look where Pefkos is on the map; I looks a bit further north than Lindos so trying to understand how is close to it.

We definitely prefer self catering

We stayed in Pefkos in a villa, it’s slightly south of Lindos. We hired a car and the drive to Lindos took about 5-10 mins. Not far at all. We loved it there!

Rhodes Old Town is fascinating. Lindos is also pretty, but if I were you, I'd hop on a ferry and go to another island if you want under-developed/less touristy.

Lindos used to be fab years ago, my parents used to visit in the 1960s. But it's become too well known /package holiday (for us).

Lindos is right at the other end of the island to Rhodes town.
I've been many times and I like to be in Kalithea near Faliraki, it's easy to get a bus or taxi into Rhodes town.

Check out Villa de Lindos. A gem of a place directly between London and pefkos. Truly beautiful place. Do book direct too

I stayed in ixia as it's close to Rhodes town.

Pefkos is great for families. You can get a bus to Rhodes Town really easily. A lot of "Lindos" accomodation isn't in Lindos but on a bleak beach outside the town.

I have stayed in Ixia and Pefkos they were fine.
If I were to ho back I would choose Lindos
