Looking for a nice coastal resort in Spain!

I want to take myself away for a few nights. I'm looking for a beach which has loungers that you can hire and order drinks and food! I went to Stiges last year and they had a nice beach there. I'm just looking for a couple of days R&R, where I can read a book eat some great food and get some sun on my skin. I'm not a fan of big resorts like Benidorm! I used to go to San Pedro near Marbella when I was younger and that was a nice happy medium!

Also, will beach bars and sun loungers be open at end of May?

Cadiz has a lovely beach - La Caleta, and Tarifa is nice.

In Spain it's not always easy to find a lounger on the beach where you can order food and drink to be brought to you, because all Spanish beaches are public. That means that a bar can only sell space on loungers and/or serve drinks on them if they have a concession from the local council. This sometimes happens if the council builds a beach bar and rents it out, like the "balnearios" on Playa de Palma and Alcudia in Majorca (although the ones in Alcudia just got demolished and will be getting rebuilt over the summer season🤦‍♂️), but it's not very common.

More often the local council provides loungers and parasols (and a lockable box for your valuables, if you're lucky) and rents them to you directly or via a concession again, but you have to get your own food and drinks.

With all that said, if you want 2-3 days doing absolutely nothing in a very pretty setting, with a hotel that is almost on the beach, look at Sant Elm in Majorca. It's completely out of the way at the far west of the island and mostly unspoiled.
