can anyone recommend a great Greek island thats good for families?

i've chosen greece because of the flight times, but have no idea what greek island would be best.

we love sandy beaches, sightseeing, museums.
i'm looking at all inclusive but would also consider holiday rentals.

thanks in advance :)

Rhodes or Crete would be my first suggestion, both have plenty of beaches, museums etc.

If you want to go island hopping then Naxos as it's a major ferry hub and there are so many islands to go to. The down side is that you fly to Mykonos and get a ferry from there.

Why is flying to Mykonos a downside? You've to fly into somewhere. We prefer flying into Athens and then heading to Naxos from there after some culture

Crete was good for my lot 2 years ago, we’re off to Kos this year.

We LOVED Zante / Zakinthos

I would absolutely recommend Syros. Loads of places to visit and stunning beaches.

Corfu

Corfu, Kefalonia or Rhodes for direct flights.

Naxos, Paros, Milos and Sifnos all have good beaches but require a ferry or domestic flight from Athens.

I wouldn’t go all inclusive in Greece and eating out in local tavernas are always a highlight of our trips. May depend on the age or your kids though.

Just back from Rhodes with an 8yr old and loved it, stayed outside Kiotari which is a longer transfer but i lovely location, though our beach was stoney, sea was a lovely temperature.
There are excursions or lots of public buses but we hired a car and drove to Lindos to explore the town and walk to the acropolis, drove to Old Town for the day which was lovely, so much to see, we also had a day driving round a bit to explore, went to Monolithos and Ancient Kamiros There are a lot of old monastries etc on Rhodes, we didn't have the car long enough to explore more but will be back.
Also been to Crete which again we loved but we did more walking/driving to see the area rather than any historic sites, did do Knossos though which was great, very interesting.

We usually fly into Santorini (cheaper than Mykonos) but I ike going via Athens too.

OP if you're going that way, Paros is lovely too.
