Venice or Milan

Hello
Family thinking about a few days in either Venice or Milan as part of a longer trip across France/Italy in Summer. Have been to Venice but not Milan, not sure Venice would be good for kids (girl aged 14 and boy aged 12) except for the novelty/canals, they aren't really into traditional museums or history/scenery but more into shopping, VR, climbing walls, bowling, cinema/theatre, sports - that type of thing. Am I missing anything re Venice and is there anything much for kids that age to do in Milan? Thanks!

I don’t rate Milan. Apart from the very small area round the cathedral it’s not particularly pretty. You can see everything worth seeing in about two hours. The San Siro is meant to be good if you’re football fans. Como is worth a visit from Milan, it’s less than an hour on the train.

Milan is a much more modern city than lots of Italy but certainly has all of the things you’re looking for. DS lives/works there and really loves it.

I live in Milano, can’t beat it for shopping in my opinion, this alone will take up a few days.

For VR my son likes Zero Latency.

Re theatre, there is obviously alla Scala, but most things are in Italian.

The only thing is the weather in the summer can get unbearably hot. There is no breeze (geographically the city is surrounded by mountains). We are going to UK for July and August to escape.

But if the weather is good, your kids will have fun.

Bemused you think of going abroad to do bowling and cinema. Maybe a week at Brighton Marina? Milan will be better for shopping. You can go on the roof of the Duomo. Where else are you going and how much time have you got to spend? Maybe one of the big campsites near Venice with loads of facilities?

I was a bit underwhelmed by Milan, how about Verona if you have already been to Venice.
