Month long holiday / travel with young children

My husband and I have been very fortunate to come in to some money and thinking of doing a month somewhere before the youngest starts school. We will have 2 children, 4 & 6 by then.

really starting to think of ideas where to go. We travelled a lot pre-children and did the US & bits of Europe quite a bit.

we are thinking maybe Japan, or maybe back to the US. Looking for culture, sight seeing, kid friendly place. Would be nice to spend a week at a beach too. Not too worried about jet lag or flight time but probably wouldn’t do Australia at this age as that’s a stretch too far

any ideas or recommendations?

Oo I'd definitely go for Japan, what an adventure!!

Not sure this is helpful, but I have friends based in Australia and they travel back to the UK once a year or so to see grandparents with little kids. It's doable if that was somewhere you wanted to go, and if going for a month it would be worth it.

Or perhaps Indonesia? There's so much variety there, temples, cities, easy island hopping, beautiful beaches. Could do Singapore en route (the airport is pretty special and there are free tours into the city to see the Merlion etc if you have a longish layover).

But personally Japan is high on my hit list so I'd go there :)
