Anyone been to Costa Calida (Murcia) Spain? We're going in 2.5 weeks with dd (3.9)

We are staying in a quiet fishing village with a nice beach. Apartment 5 mins walk from said beach. It will be bliss, but we may want a day away from the beach. Any recommendations for days out in the area?

I don't know that one, but we had a lovely fortnight in Murcia a few years ago. Lorca is nice for a day trip, and Cartegena, also Murcia itself. I think we spent most of the time on the beach though.

It's just up the coast from Cartagena so that's a handy one! If it was up to dd we would be on the beach all day every day but tbh I think that will drive dh mad. May have to send him off by himself while dd and I make sandcastles

Mum and Dad live near Mazarron, close to la Azohia. go over all the time with 2 DDs. There are some fantastic beaches which, this time of year, will be practically empty. We love Calanegre beaches which are practically empty all year (except August). Also try and get up to Espuna, the large national park. Brilliant walking and adventure for the kids. There is plenty to do in the area, and is still largely 'un-discovered' away from the main towns. try and be brave and venture off the beaten track, there's some wonderful places to discover.

DH has a bit of local knowledge as he is often out there for work - he is based in the UK but his company has a subsidiary in Torre Pacheco. Trouble is, he knows where all the hotels, restaurants and bars are but not what to do with a family.
