Any tips/tricks? For the holiday and even the plane journey.
All advice welcome!

Snacks, lots of kiddylicious wafers and some deliciously Ella smoothies. A few new toys that are easy to reach on the plane! 8 months was an absolutely delightful age to go away. Much easier and more relaxing than 18months 🤯🤣. Enjoy! Make sure there is a secure space for them to sit round the pool etc. we pulled up a deep chair for our daughter and she sat there all day playing and living her best life.

Change of clothes for you both in the plane (for the inevitable spew).
More swimming nappies than you think you need, because they seem to be ridiculously expensive in countries where you need them. Ditto re sunscreen.
Assuming you'll be out in the evening with baby in the buggy, something to keep the buggy bug and light free.
Shade tent thingy for the beach (or buy there to save packing£.
Have fun! As PP said although you mightn't think it, it's a great time to travel.

Little inflatable paddling pool to put them in next to you when you are on the beach (if they are sitting)

We got some suction spinner toys (designed for highchair trays) to stick onto the plane window that kept our little one occupied for ages at a similar age.

Sand and pool toys (that age my kids played for ages with little tea set pouring water back and forth)
sun hats and rash vests - most children who are miserable on holidays are too hot! At this age she should always wear a sun hat.
sun cream - I always find it’s cheaper in the Uk than abroad, sometimes Boots has special offers for Soltan
mini emergency kit: calpol, plasters etc
Favourite snacks
Beach shoes
Big muslins to help cover pram (for naps) or as light blankets
