Planning for summer hols and reading the small print it says JET2 will allow me 10kg for a pushchair AND a car seat before charging xcess baggage. Is it possible?

We need to buy an alternative pushchair to take and dont know how important its weight, really is.

What stage car seat do you need? Think that will be heavy thing - you can get lightweight umbrella strollers which only weigh 4-5 kilos. How old is your dc?

DD will be 15 months so stage 1 car seat which are all pretty heavy.

I really want to know just how strict airlines are about this kind of thing. Do they adhere to it or does it depend on which ticketing agent checks us in?!!

I have to say I've never taken anything other than a booster seat myself - do you have to take a car seat or can you hire one - assume you are hiring a car at the other end? The other option might be to buy one of those lighter ones where you strap them in with the seat belt rather than having it's own straps - don't know what stage they are but I'm sure I had one of those for my dd at that age which we kept at her grandparents house for when we flew there on hols...

Had not thought of hiring one but don't think i would be happy about doing it - not knowing what has happened to the seat before we use it seems like a pretty big gamble.
