There's an option to stopover In Singapore for 2 days on the way home from a long-haul holiday.
Anyone done this? Thoughts please.

Love Singapore. Asia-lite. Lots of nice food, drink and shops. Nice hotels. Safe. Hot but air con everywhere. I’d do it!

Yes, we stopped over on our way to New Zealand. Arrived 10pm on a Sunday night and left at 7pm on the Tuesday.

We stayed in the Crowne Plaza in the airport for convenience and visited the Bukit Timah nature reserve, Gardens by the Bay and Pasir Ris. The airport is very pleasant - about as different from Manchester as you could imagine - and I understand it now has its own shopping centre and gardens. I loved it and would go again.

Went for 3 days before a beach destination for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it
Would go back in a heartbeat
Never felt so safe in a foreign country to be honest (probably because they have fairly strict rules)
The metro is pristine and so cheap and easy to use so you can get around the city easily
The airport is insane as well 😂 made waiting around on the way home worth it
We did the touristy things, Gardens by the Bay, an extortionate Singapore sling in Raffles and food at Hawkers centres.. amazing!

We went just before Diwali so the decorations and atmosphere was amazing.

Its a very sanitised version of the wider Sth East Asia. The franca lingua is English, so majority of younger people are fluent and all signs, ticket booths, MRT train terminals are in English. Some great food, markets and things to see/do. The zoo is world famous incl the night zoo. Long haul I would absolutely have a stop over! It is pricier than other Sth East Asian countries, but for 2 days, its a great break.

If you fly with Singapore Air, they used to offer day bus tours and other perks for having a stop over.

The orchid gardens at the Botanic Gardens are absolutely beautiful. And yes, to echo what everyone else said, it is an extremely pleasant (and safe, and easy to get around) place to spend a couple of days. The food is INCREDIBLE too.

I just wrote you a really long reply and my phone ate it, the gist was that we just went, its very humid, plan in rests and cooling off breaks, maybe a hotel with a pool but we loved it and had a really enjoyable time there with our 3 children. Clean, safe, very easy and cheap public transport.

We did this on the way back from Oz, three nights luxury in Singapore and it was amazing. We all loved it! Have a brilliant time!

Not sure what your budget is but we stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in February. It had recently reopened after a renovation. The breakfast was excellent.
