Hotel Cots?

Going on our first abroad holiday since we had kids and wondering what hotel cost are like? It’s to Mallorca.

Are they usually travel cots or more substantial?

My youngest will be 20 months old so worried if the cot is a standard sized travel cot he’ll be too big.

You could email the hotels you are considering? You could also search Tripadvisor and Google reviews for ‘cot’ as sometimes people mention it particularly if they weren’t happy with the quality.

We haven’t been to Mallorca but so far everywhere we have stayed with DD has supplied a standard travel cot. we are going away this summer just before she turns 2 and hoping she will still fit this year.

They are usually always travel cots as they need to be moved in and out of the rooms easily and stored. I have only been to one hotel with a folding wooden cot, and that was a small boutique place focused of high end family boltholes.

They should fit though. Ds was really tall when using travel cot. We had babybjorn one, and although by 20 months he could easily climb out of it ( wasn’t in cot at home by then either), we would just let him fall asleep in main bed with us and then lift him into travel cot and he had plenty of space to sleep still. He would just leap out the cot otherwise if awake at bedtime

When we stayed at various AI resorts we saw proper travel cots being carried out of the rooms when we walked past the housekeeping staff.

DD slept in one of those when she was 23 months for two weeks.

Fyi the mattress on the babybjorn travel cot is 105cm, I think it’s slightly smaller than other travel costs also so all probably 105-120cm mattress. My Ds is tall and only just 105cm now at 4 years, so an under 2 will fit fine

A travel cot will be fine for a 20 month old. I’ve been supplied everything from a brand new travel cot with the tags still on, to older one with an extra mattress and the previous occupants snot (noting a wet wipe won’t sort). I would take your own bedding just in case, a large muslin is better buying fitted because you don’t know the mattress size. I did once get supplied a broken drop sided cot pushed up against a wall. This was in the UK less than 2 years ago so to say I wasn’t happy would be an understatement.

Almost always standard style travel cots. I'm sure your DC will still fit fine. DC1 was admittedly fairly petite but still fit fine in a travel cot at the age of 3. The only downside is the standard travel cot mattresses are super thin and I'm not sure how comfortable they'd be for an older toddler.
