Off to Turkey in June, self catering with 3 children 14 and 16 and a baby.

How much money would I need?

Also, is it Lira? Euros or Sterling x

Thank you x

Depends where in Turkey. In Istanbul or the main tourist areas you wll find everywhere takes credit cards and you will need very little cash.

In the more rural areas you will need cash.

Take Turkish Lira. Order it before you go.

Take a small amount of lira to use when you first get to Turkey and then change your £s there as you will get a much better rate. Most places have exchange shops that charge no commission.

When we went to Antalya last year, we mainly used Euros. The waiting staff etc seemed much more keen to receive tips in Euros, for instance.

Otherwise, we used our Monzo card.

I’ve just got back from Side in Antalya and everywhere took both Turkish Lira and Euros.

We switched our credit card to a Barclaycard Rewards one before we went, as that particular Barclaycard does not charge a fee to take foreign currency (both Lira and Euros were available) out of cash points when we were there.

English money is also accepted everywhere in Marmaris.
