First time driving to France

Hello we have a small motorhome and now want to drive to Brittany in France for the first time , either by euro tunnel or ferry . Admittedly we've left it late to book anything but yhe prices seem quite high . Is that normal , do you normally book earlier and it's cheaper ?
Any other bits of advice would be helpful as we've not done driving abroad before ?

It's cheaper if you book early. Also worth looking at using tesco club card points or similar for discounts on ferry/tunnel. French motorways have tolls but are quiet and easy to drive on.

Make sure you have the specified bits in your car - hi viz jackets, warning triangle, breathaliser and a UK sticker.
Prices usually about £300 return l tend to find for late August.
Enjoy xx
