Child free holiday over summer (3-4 nights)

DH and I have a milestone anniversary this summer and both sets of grandparents have very kindly offered to contribute towards a child free holiday and between them have the children.

Until now we’ve only had a maximum of 2 nights away without the DC and this has been UK and within a few hours of home.

We’re really stumped on where to go! We want to go for 4 nights maximum and can be almost anywhere in the UK, or short haul.

Any recommendations will be greatly received!

Depends what you like to do? There are so many places in UK and Europe you could visit. One of my favourites is Vienna but I like music and architecture.

Yes what are your interests?
do you want a city break or cultural break or beach? Or everything? A lot of Southern Europe will be very hot in the summer, so would not plan a city break in Rome
or Naples…

Iceland? Good if you don't want scorchio that the Med will be in the summer.

Berlin?
Paris (but not when the Olympics are on obviously)

Unless you live near a big airport where you have the choice of multiple flights to every possible destination a good start might be to look on Skyscanner to see where you can fly to for a reasonable price on the dates you are looking at.

Thanks, that’s a really good point point about checking what flight destinations. We’re in between two regional airports, so will see if that narrows it down.

@Karatema and @WhatWouldYouDo33 thanks for the suggestions.

In terms of interests, I like musicals and we both like stand up comedy. Previous weekends away (without the DC) have usually involved an annual trip to see a show of some sort then staying overnight.

Neither of us a really into beach holidays, would be quite nice to be able to soak up some of the culture wherever we go.
