Stopover in Hong Kong - question please

Hi all,

We are planning to fly to Sydney later in the year and are looking at flights. If we have a 6 hour plus stopover in Hong Kong on our return journey can we exit the airport and explore - even if our bags are checked through to our final destination? Will we need visas to do this?
It's the first time we are doing this trip so have no clue.

Many thanks

You don't need a (tourist) visa for HK if you're a UK passport holder and staying less than 6 months.

It's an easy hop on the Airport Express train in to Central (and back) - takes around 25 mins each way. The airport itself is pretty efficient although queues for Immigration can be a little slow at times (unless you're a HK resident) but nothing like Heathrow arrivals glacial pace.

When I lived in HK, I could do wheels down on the tarmac to home feet up on my sofa (in Soho) in less than an hour.
