Istanbul Hammam Recommendations

Hi. DH and I are going for a long weekend in May. We’re staying in Galata and would love to visit a hammam. Any recommendations? Ideally one that has mixed sessions as I’ve seen a few only have separate male/female times. Thanks!

You are really going to struggle finding a good hammam that is also mixed as traditionally men and woman bathe separately.

Navitas Spa is a really cool spa in the Sultanahmet - part of Hagia Sofia Mansions. Their hammam and pool is actually built into a Roman cistern and they have couples treatments.

The best hammam in that area is the Kilic Ali Pasa hamam but it's not mixed.

If you want a mixed one then you can go the Cukurcuma hamam which is not far from you but is not as nice as kilic ali pasa.

Hi! I know this was some time ago, but I’m looking for a hammam here in London that’s similar to the one at the Grande Mosquée de Paris. If you haven’t been there, it’s all female and feels like it’s been there forever. It’s very quiet, and when you lay on the marble slabs in the various steam rooms, time disappears and you can be alone with your thoughts. I especially loved that the women there ranged from lithe 20-something’s to great-grandmothers and every variety of shape and size between them, but no one seemed uncomfortable and if they did, any discomfort melts away.
