Feel sick- Jet2 non-refundable flights

Wondering if anyone else has booked a Jet2 flight inaccurately, cancelled it, then discovered they are non-refundable? Or am I the only idiot?

I thought in the UK we're protected by a 14 day 'cooling off' period, does this not apply? Jet2 have told me not.😞

Unfortunately I think they are right

So you booked and cancelled within the minute when you realised what you did?

As I'm suspecting you did that otherwise no point in the thread, give them a call and tell them you made a geniue mistake, ie clicked the wrong time or date and realised straight away and tried to cancl on;ine

judgementfail · 10/04/2024 14:48

If you've made a simple error if you call them they often fix the error for free if you've just booked it. Your mistake was cancelling it.

No cooling off period for non refundable flights. Refundable (flexible) flights are several times the cost

You are entitled to your taxes back. That's quite a big chunk if the cost.

bakebelieve · 10/04/2024 17:17

Yes, it was late at night when I booked and realised first thing and knee-jerk, cancelled. Feeling very stupid.

I hope they're feeling generous. Emailed customer services and threw myself on their mercy. Apparently it could take up to 28 days for a reply though.

Oh jeez what a mistake, I hope they are kind about it, hope you hear something soon.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 10/04/2024 17:57

So if it was a genuine mistake as i suggested, ie you paid and then realised within moments or minutes then they will pay

When was it booked for, at what time did you book it and at what time/day you cancelled

Brainded · 10/04/2024 18:01

It might be easier to just change you dates etc. or do you just not want to travel at all?

theymustnowknow · 10/04/2024 18:06

Try WhatsApp to contact customer services. I've always had a quick response that way with Jet2

Donimo · 10/04/2024 18:25

I did this Ba (booked the wrong day back) and realised the day after. When I called them they advised their policy is to make changes to a booking within 24 hours. As I was outside this they were charging £150 pp change fee. So with 5 of us decided may as well stay for an extra day.

Wrapunzel · 10/04/2024 20:30

I did this with KLM once and I asked soooo nicely, they gave me a refund in flight vouchers so I was able to rebook the date I needed

InTheRainOnATrain · 10/04/2024 20:33

I’ve done with BA, got confused with a long haul that arrived a day after it left, but thankfully within the 24 hours grace period so changed no problem. I really hope you get it sorted OP, hopefully they’ll be kind.

SuncreamAndIceCream · 10/04/2024 20:35

Most airlines will let you cancel without penalty within 24 hours, regardless of whether it is a refundable ticket

Check their t&c.

I once did the same with some tickets to South America - I thought they were a real bargain for school holidays. Only it wasn't the school holiday, it was the week before 😱

I realised about two hours later & rang them in a proper panic.

bakebelieve · 10/04/2024 22:10

Thanks everyone. It's just so frustrating that the narrow margin between pressing the cancellation button and not ringing them up and speaking to them should make such a massive difference. You'd think they'd prefer you not to bother them if you can cancel and rebook online. 🤷‍♀️

What would you like to happen - a refund or your booking reinstated? I’d suggest being clear with Jet2 what you’re asking for.

chickenpieandchips · 11/04/2024 09:06

I think you have 24 hours on a flight. Not sure if it's a holiday.
I'f still in time get hold of them and refer to this period. They might have been awkward because they could.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/04/2024 09:08

So what have you don't booked a day too early /late ?

BeachBeerBbq · 11/04/2024 09:09

I needed to amend once and iirc they have 24 hours for changes. But if you cancelled, I wouldn't count on getting anything back

JackSpaniels · 11/04/2024 09:15

Jet2 are great- call them.
I once booked the wrong hotel (TBF I searched the exact name on their website and it took me to the sister hotel )
They didn't have the right hotel and so they refunded me less an admin fee- which wasn't much.
