Best mobile data options for USA

We are off to Florida in May. I'd like to use mobile data whilst there. My current provider appears to charge a significant amount for mobile data, calls, texts etc. Tbh I only need data. What are my options? What have others done? Should I buy an international sim? I've heard about esims but don't really understand and am wary of them working.

O2 (ex Virgin mobile) here.

We moved DD's SIM only from a UK with EU add-on to a worldwide on last Summer. I can't remember the exact price increase but I found it very low compared to the US add one I bought for £60.

We originally thought we just use hotel wifi but in the end were glad to have upgraded as it made life a lot easier when we had to do some things apart.

DH has a worldwide contract anyway as his mobile is also used for his job and the fee is paid by his employer.

Not every phone is capable of supporting an e-sim. I know mine doesn't.

I usually just load up a Three PAYG SIM and buy a data pack for my yearly trips back home to the States. It maxxes out at 12Gb for a month roaming, but that is plenty if you have access to WiFi along the way too.

We have also purchased an unlimited data T-Mobile SIM from Amazon for my son which has worked fine (about £40)

I got an Airolo eSIM last time I went and it worked perfectly, I was really pleased with it. If your phone supports them, then I have a referral code you can use that will give you $3 off and give me the same in credit

I’ve used Airalo when visiting Canada and then the US various times over the last two years. It works brilliantly on iPhones and on certain android ones. Google will tell you which phones can use them. We’ve also had Canadians visiting here and they used Airalo too.

I have a new iPhone so it supports eSIM, we go tomorrow to LA. We are buying an eSIM for $6 it gives 3gb data. We will use that
