Will you have a car and do you need to stay in the centre of Canterbury?

Stay at ABode

Ooh-this is my specialist subject. What sort of things do you like to eat/do?

The Pig at Bridge Place. Whitstable harbour for seafood.

Ooh, we're going to Canterbury on Sunday, so I'm interested to see what people suggest! Not a romantic trip, as we'll have DD1 in tow.

Last time we went, we had a bar snack lunch in this place which was converted from the old town prison, and included tickets to see the prison museum upstairs, which was really cool and a nice thing to do.

The Pig is stunning but not in Canterbury itself if that's important to you. aBode will be decent and is in the centre of the city. The Goods Shed has a fab restaurant. Two Sawyers is a lovely cosy pub.

The Falstaff is a nice place to stay. For dinner depends on what kind of food you feel like, El Sol Tapas Bar, Cafe de Amis, the Corner House, Il Posticino are all good. Fordwich Arms is a bit further out but brilliant for special occasions.

Eating out, staying at nice hotels and wandering around the shops, would like to get a boat out too!

The Woolpack at Chilham is LOVELY. Great staff & fantastic food. Nice for a stroll and about 15min drive from Canterbury (or quicker by train).

The Dog At Wingham is lovely and just outside Canterbury. Great rooms and lovely food. They sometimes have special offers so it's worth giving the owners a ring. All the previous suggestions sound great as well!
