If we liked Nerja, Puerto Pollensa, Estepona and Alghero where else would we like?

Just that really - those a are destinations that we've particularly enjoyed in the past.

2 adults, 2 grown up DC looking for a destination , probably Sept/Oct time that will be hot, sunny, chilled, good selection of local places to eat, nice beaches with sea you can swim in.

Ideally a town within an hour of the airport, lots of self-catering options (not interested in AI or hotels). It would be nice to try somewhere not Spanish as our last few holidays have been to mainland Spain.

Wondering if there's anywhere that fits the bill in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey etc?

Any recommendations or suggestions please as I have Skyscanner and Air BnB open and ready whilst I ignore the UK weather currently blowing a hoolie outside

I love Nerja and Puerto Pollensa too, but also loved Dalyan in Turkey which would be even better weather in September and into October. No big hotels, so loads of restaurants and a beautiful setting. You have to get a boat or dolmus to the beach but it's no trouble and worth it for the lovely resort. Otherwise we have also liked Agios Gordios in Corfu, Puerto Mogan in Gran Canaria or Cavtat, Croatia although not sure about the self care there.

@loopsngeorge thank you for those suggestions. I like the idea of Turkey as I went there pre-DP and DC (although my memories of the dolmus leave me a bit scared! )

Greek islands are also very appealing but it's knowing where to start as they all have such different vibes from what I can gather (again, I went to mainland Greece and a few islands when I was bout 18 so remember nothing!!)

Chania in Crete

Another vote for chania, crete. One of my favourite places in the world. The old town is beautiful.

We stay in a quiet village called Vamos but visit Chania when there. It is a beautiful town with fantastic restaurants.

Lots of activities to do locally - our favorite is day of cycling in the mountains.

Rethymno in Crete. I was looking at Rovinj in Croatia, though I'm not sure what the beach situation is. Also considering Lindos (which autocorrect wants to tell me I mean Londis!) and Rhodes Town, other popular Mumsnet suggestions. There's also Playa Blanca in Lanzarote, though that's obviously Spain.

Porec in Croatia, in fact any of the towns in Istria, someone has mentioned Rovinj already. Pula is a lovely city, and you can have a day trip by ferry to Venice.
