Is there anywhere to stay in Vegas that....

Isn't a shithole with 3 stars on Trip Advisor or hundreds of pounds per night?!

We went years ago and got a great deal on the MGM Grand (including breakfast & dinner buffet everyday for free which was worth $$$$$) but everywhere reasonably priced now has terrible reviews 😭

We just want a happy medium for 3/4 nights!

Park MGM is only a few years old and located very centrally on The Strip. It's cheaper than The Venetian and The Bellagio types but DH has stayed there and would definitely recommend!

We stayed in the Desert Rose just off the strip about 15 years ago, decent little motel in walking distance to MGM and inexpensive from what I remember

takeitorleave · 05/04/2024 20:14

We stayed at the platinum hotel which was an aparthotel with kitchen area - 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed - it's one road off the strip.

We like the Downtown Grand. It attracts a lot of Americans, and has a rooftop pool. Downtown can be party central, there were outdoor music stages when we were there. The hotel provided earplugs, and they were needed.

Always worth reserving somewhere which:
a. You'd be ok staying st
b. Offers a full refund if cancelled

and then watching the sites on a regular basis for sudden price drops.

We did this - booked NYNY initially foe $200 per night about 8 months before our trip and then swapped it about 3 months before departure for Vdara for approx $230 per night

Park MGM yes isn't really expensive and quite nice as it's one of the rare non smoking hotels there. Although there is nothing in the room so take travel kettle!!

I've also stayed at the Grand (rooms are very small)

I've stayed quite a few places as I go every year for work.

Cosmopolitan is my favourite but more pricey.

I heard the NY NY is ok, but not if your room is near the rollercoaster Grin

The Flamingo is cheap and central on the strip and although it isn’t fancy, is not rotting like a lot of them. We stayed there for the Vegas F1 Grand Prix and paid around $100 a night so I am guessing it is usually cheaper. The resort has seen better days but the room was very pleasant, it had comfy beds and I would go again. Of course it’s all down to personal opinion but I would rather stay there then pay out $$$ for shinier places.

If you’ve been to Vegas before then it’s worth checking out some of the hotels on Fremont Street. They’re cheap and some of them are really rather nice.

Thanks everyone.
Been researching the suggestions this.morning & think the desert rose is the best for us so thank you @olivebranch31
DD is coeliac so is definitely handy to have the option to buy our own food/cook.

I echo @Paninaro94.

We stayed in the Flamingo and it served its purpose. Good location too.

My top tip would be to research and reserve your restaurants before you go.

We’ve just been and I really did not feel safe on Freemint Street. Way too many homeless people asking for money and open drug taking.

flamingo is really run down.

we stayed at the Venetian. It’s fairly expensive, but we didn’t eat there, gym, pools etc included.
we ate at onsite Starbucks for breakfast and they have a food court - which had decent food.

bastedyoungturkey · 06/04/2024 21:36

100% Agree about Freemont. Maybe go and see it but I wouldn't stay down there. Park MGM and New York New York are very decent choices. I've also heard good things about Linq.

GoingOnHol · 09/04/2024 20:16

DH found a website which gives room credit.per night and its $50 at MGM grand, we can't see our dates yet as it's over a year away but there are some.nights as cheap as $100-120 so with the room credit it's a bargain.
The Excalibur is also on there but having stayed at MGM grand before and liking it was rather pay a bit more and stay there

We stayed there too. Huge suite, no smoking no casino aparthotel. Short walk to the strip through Paris. Loved it.

LuckyCharm9 · 13/04/2024 16:06

We stayed at The Signature at the MGM, the rooms have a little kitchen space and fridge etc.

honeyrider · 15/04/2024 00:35

I stayed in the Jockey Club Suites which is joined to The Cosmopolitan at the end of March last year. It was so central and spotless with a kitchen area, dining and living room area and separate bedroom. I booked it on Booking.com. It was very good value and didn't have resort fees like most places had back then though I think resort fees are banned now.

ajlots · 16/04/2024 10:35

Another vote for Flamingo. It had some really bad reviews for some reason but our room was large and clean and the location being middle of the strip was brilliant. I wouldn't go Fremont largely due to the pain of having to travel everywhere, we stayed off strip before and the convenience of being on strip (and central) this time was immeasurable.

ajlots · 16/04/2024 10:35

Resort fees aren't banned sadly.

Paninaro94 · 16/04/2024 12:03

You’d only want to stay on Fremont if you had been to Vegas many times before. I know it has a bad rep, it’s not for everyone, but the Strip itself is not exactly PG-rated these days. I was last there back end of last year, there was lots of disruption due to the Grand Prix and many of the regular homeless people had been “cleared out” for the event but it was still dodgy. Strip hasn’t been the same since they got rid of that lovely garden in front of Bally’s (Horseshoe now) and put in that warren of kiosks. Rank.
