Has anyone used Gatwicks fast track passport control before, is it worth it?

Travelling with a 3.5 year old landing at about 5pm on a Thursday in term time.

Obviously we can't use egates so wondering if its worth it for less hassle?

Haven't flown through Gatwick for years, so not sure how efficent their passport control is.

Is fast track secruity also worth it? I'm reading not as average time even at peak is maximum 20 minute wait. Seems bag drop will be the bigger problem!

Wanting a minimum stress airport experience if possible. Wouldn't normally have even normally considered it, but it came up as an option for additional cashback on quidco when booking parking.

I wouldn't bother. I flew through Gatwick a few weeks ago and didn't really have to queue at all.

I also wouldn’t bother - flew through last week and also back in January and it was a breeze going through (both with early & late flights).

Nope. These days with the number of people who do use the e-gates, you are through in next to no time.

If it's easyJet bagdrop is automated and also very quick.

Thanks all. As expected probably not worth it then. I'll save the money for lunch at the airport instead!

Yes its easyjet. So that's good to know. Thanks. I detest automated machines for bag check in. They never work for me. They're the work of the devil. Worse than self service checkouts. So I shall arive in plenty of time and prepare myself to be frustrated! 😂

The only time we've done fast track is when we knew we would be short of time, getting from work to the airport, for a weekend break in Europe. It was worth it for peace of mind. Normal family trips we don't bother.

Ifulikepinacoladas · 05/04/2024 23:16

We did it a couple of years ago and the normal queue moved way quicker than we did 😂
Never again.

Fast track passports is only worth it if you are coming from a family destination in school holidays. As kids can't use the egates the manned desks have huge queues then.

Also, in the past when the kids were small, the officers in the queue area would often direct families with young children into a separate queue which was quicker
