We were going to stay in the uk this year as money is tight but every time we go away in the uk for a hoilday it bloody rains!

so we are looking at going to Menorca, we have never been but are looking for a quiet. family friendly place to stay by a beach with a swimming pool.

Anyone any ideas please?

Am still looking, also been looking at Fuerteventura a place called Playa de Jandia anyone been there? will there be hot weather in september?

In Menorca have been looking at Santo Tomas & looking at the Hamilton court apartments & the victoria playa hotel.

also been looking at son bou.

Any experiences of these places?

Dp says if we go abroad he wants a nice quiet place to stay right on a nice snady beach & some hot weather if anyone has any other ideas please throw them at me. I think what he means is he just wants to play around & relax in the sun with the kids.

We've gone back to Fuerteventura twice to Les Marismas apts and we loved it.

MarsLady · 30/03/2008 14:28

I got pregnant with the DTs in Menorca! Son Bou in fact. Gorgeous place. Lovely beach.

chatee · 30/03/2008 14:34

have a look at terrazamar sunsuite royale apts in puerto rico, gran canaria- we were there the end of last august and the apts are fab,but it is hilly and a good walk down and back up to the beach although taxis are cheap so we just figured that into our daily budget
as the weather is better in the canaries than the balearics(depending on whether it's late or early september)
shout away if you want any more info
ps: Victoria playa is lovely too but i prefer the Hotel Presidente in Portinatx, Ibiza if i was choosing x

Hi, We've just booked to go here in September. It's in Cala'n Bosch in Menorca. We've never been before but its got fab reviews on every review site I've looked at. We booked direct with the hotel to get a 2 bed apt apt as Thomson could only get allocation for 1 bed apts. HTH

ScoobyDoo · 30/03/2008 14:58

Marslady - erm well hopefully that won't happen to me Twins my world might just end, i can't keep up with the 2 children i have

Scoobydoo, we stayed at the Victoria Playa in Santo Tomas for our first ever family holiday when our dds were 5 & 3. It was an idyllic setting with pine trees in the gardens providing shade and only a stroll onto the beach.

However, we found it a bit Butlin-esque, with a kind of radio station being broadcast all day and quizzes in the afternoon. The kids club was good and there were a few restaurants and bars within walking distance if you wanted to escape. I wouldn't go back though, because the rooms were quite small. The bunk beds were old iron things (quite dangerous imo) and we really struggelled for space.

On the plus side, the food was quite good.

Pre-children, dh & I stayed in Cala'n'Bosch. This was a lovely resort with 2 good beaches, a harbour with restaurants all around it and a good waterpark nearby. I would heartily recommend this as a place to stay, but be careful choosing your accomodation.

Pesto i watched a video clip of the Vicotria Playa & decided against, not sure why but gut instinct told me no

I have however been thinking of the Hamilton court apartments & after seeing the vidoe of this i thought it was ideal, would love to know if anyone has been there?

I looked at Cala'n'Bosch but don't know where to stay, could not find anything i was really interested in all seemed a bit few & far between apart from Lozzy's place but bit over priced for us

When we stayed in Santo Tomas, there was a nice Spanish hotel along the front which I thought looked much nicer than ours, it was
the Sol Hotel

You might want to check it out.

we have been to Cala'n porter twice and we loved it, on talking to other holiday makers whilst there we found that we had paid less for our holiday than they did, they had an apartment, we had 3 bed villa with pool.
i guess it depends on if you want to have peace and privacy or want to be around lots of others.

ScoobyDoo · 30/03/2008 20:24

Thanks Pesto off to look at your link now

would love peace & privacy but always thought it would cost more, have been looking at Fuerteventura as dp says the weather will be alot better in september? prices are huge there though for hotel/apartment anyone know where to look for private apartment/villa been looking at Jandia.
