ThatJollyTiger · 05/04/2024 07:30

Both my kids have different dads. I’m applying for all three of our passports at the same time, holiday is in eight weeks (late I know)

Sons dad will not provide his passport details for our sons passsport.

daughters dad is not on birth certificate.

am I supposed to send my birth certificate for all three of our passports? HOW

a very stressed first time travelling mum here 😂

There are details online of how to apply as a family.

Are these first time passports? As long as they are able to prove the children have British citizenship through you then that should be sufficient to qualify. I did not need to send anything relating to my husband for my children’s passports (he is not a British citizen so there was no point)

when you apply online you are given a reference number. You can then send your birth certificate and list the reference number of all 3 applications so that they can use it as evidence for them all.

@ThatJollyTiger starting at the beginning - do you have an old UK passport of your own? It is expired, or close to expiry?

If you've had one before then a renewal is going to be faster and easier than a first passport. If not, then it's going to be very tight. Can you look at the forms for that today?

If you are posting anything then:
1 - make sure you use the exact address you are given for that form. There are several passport office. Do not send your info to an address for your child as that will delay everything (or it might get lost)

2 - send old passports with minimum LARGE letter stamp

3 - keep a copy of everything you send - in case it gets lost or you need information from it

also for your children's first passports you are likely to need someone to certify their photos.

If you have had a passport before then you might not need this yourself. But this is why you need to look at the requirements ASAP.

@ThatJollyTiger and while you're at it, apply now for a GHIC for you and each child. It's free.

You still need travel insurance too but do this tonight when children are in bed, it doesn't take long to fill in the form . And remember to pack with your passport
