September, Crete, Majorca??

... Or somewhere else? for a bit of warmth and relaxation. We've been to Croatia several times in last few years.
Just for me and DH, (late 50s)
Quiet'ish resort, beach, pool, bit of walking, culture/history, pretty, maybe near a busier town.
Any recommendations for hotels, s/c,
I've been looking at Crete (Dore Hotel, amongst many others) Budget around £2,000 for a week.
Recommendations would be appreciated!

Majorca - couple days in Palma (lots of nice Airbnb's) then wooden tourist train to Soller and tram to Port de Soller. Can't recommend a hotel though.

I did consider Palma for a couple of days, then somewhere else. I've been to Soller and PP. I think I was hoping to find somewhere closer to Palma, but the resorts aren't great.

Look at Illetas, a little corner of Palma that isn't really a resort. There is nowhere that serves an all-day full English and there are no stag parties. Just 2 or 3 hotels and a couple of small but OK beaches of which one has a restaurant/optional beach club on it. It's on a main city bus route into Palma from where you can get to anywhere on the island.

My friend likes Illetas; thought it may be out of our budget. I'll look!

illetes is stunning, might be pricey, we stayed in June and sunbeds on the beach were mega £££££
