Villas in Spain or Portugal

We've done France to death I think and would love to explore another closeish country.

Keen to hire a villa for 6-8 for me and my DH, 2 teenage girls and my elderly parents.

Requirements - pool and within a close and safe walk to a small town or resort for my parents to have their independence.

Looking here instead of anywhere else because villas in the past have advertised 'near town' and it turns out to be in the middle of nowhere with a really unsafe road so nowhere to walk.

Can't recommend anything specifically as we don't usually stay in villas, except https://www.villaspuertorubicon.com/ which meet your brief (marina, beach, supermarket, bakery all a few minutes flat and safe walk away) except they're in Lanzarote, so might be too far away.

But I never book anywhere without knowing the exact location and scoping it out on Google maps and streetview so I can see how far away beach, restaurants, supermarket, bus stop etc is and whether it's walkable.

Good advice.

Can anyone recommend parts of Spain that are less touristy and quieter?

We stayed at this villa a few years ago. It was gorgeous, right on the beach and a five minute walk from the village.

The link doesn’t work

TheRulerofThings · 02/04/2024 16:29

@Theraininspainfalls Hopefully this link works - other one only seems to work if you have the app.

Always comb through the reviews, there will normally be comments made on location.

OP it might be worth giving an idea of budget, as this is lovely, but almost £10K for a week.

Just realised the link showed the price in dollars, so not quite so bad, but still almost £8K per week in the summer.

Happy to consider Menorca too

Look at Puerto Pollensa in Majorca, it’s perfect for your age ranges and lots of accommodation within walking distance of the resort.

chickenpieandchips · 03/04/2024 08:38

Yes. Port de pollensa. But make sure you can walk to the port and not near Pollensa town.
Pinewalk is the more desirable end but the beach south of the harbour is better.
We've stayed here

And here

Which was a lock down half price bargain . Lots of villas online just double check the location.

Belsreguard is also a great location. Shared pool though.
