Haven - Baby Monitor

Hello everyone!

Has anyone been to Haven and connected a baby monitor to the WiFi? We go in a few weeks and my son has started rolling over in his cot and I'm terrified to not have eyes on him of an evening (let's not even talk about how badly I'm sleeping now!)

I have the BT Smart monitor as well as a cheapy security camera so not sure if either would work on their WiFi 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any advice welcome 😊

Sorry this isn’t related to WiFi but to try and reassure you, if your baby is strong enough to roll over then they are ok to sleep in their front (assuming this is your worry). Also if they’re not rolling both ways yet then by the time you go on holiday they most likely will be.
The advice about sleeping on their back is about when they aren’t strong enough to roll, lift and turn head etc

Wi-Fi’s been awful in the Havens I’ve stayed at. You could possibly hot spot from your phone but if you really need a baby monitor I’d get one of the cheaper ones just plug in.

Thank you! It's my main concern and he can roll both ways so should be fine but seems to just lay on his face for some reason 😂 you're right about changing before the holiday though, I didn't think of it like that 🤞

I expected that response 😬 WiFi should be good everywhere in 2024! I was hoping that because we are in new ("deck house*) accomodation it would be better but I think I'm being too optimistic!

@Evedy Does the BT Smart not have a parent screen?

loz12345 · 02/04/2024 08:15

WIFI at Haven in none existent unless you are in the complex- we only had intermittent connection because we had 3 people all on different networks and were on the edge of the park where people used to walk past waving their phones about to get a signal- sorry I know that wasn’t the answer you wanted but we took our ds when he was 8 months and I understand your concern but it was fine we just took a cheap plug in monitor that didn’t need internet worked well

It does actually so maybe that's my best bet. I remember taking it to a holiday home before though and it wouldn't even connect at all to use the screen instead 🤷🏻‍♀️ this was 4 years ago so I don't remember the issue but it was definitely internet related

It's worth requesting a van with good WiFi, some are much better than others and they'll allocate you one if you ask.

None of it is that good though.

@Evedy You don’t need to connect it to the WiFi if you’re using the parent screen 😊 it should work just like a standard plug in monitor. We took ours to loads of caravans/hotels etc with no WiFi 😊

As a side note - we had to have ours replaced by BT 3 times because it kept just cutting out during use. Eventually we just got rid of it all together and went with a different one. Had friends who also had a terrible time with the BT one! Hopefully yours is fine (I know they get good reviews, that’s why we bought it!) but just keep an eye on it!

I'm going with your first reply - you don't need to worry about the wi-fi as you don't need to worry about your baby rolling. They now have the strength and the reflexes to adjust their sleeping position to maintain their airway. Honestly please don't get yourself worked up as you don't need to Flowers

Thank you, it's good to hear! We can't help but worry though right? 😬😂
