Staying just outside of palma and wondering if anyone can suggest any must see or do things - good place to have a drink or lunch??

Going with dd and a friend and their dd.

Weather looking good- but want to do at least a day touring in palma town itself.

The obvious places are the cathedral and the royal palace next door. The cathedral is magnificent, the palace a bit less so, we thought.

There are some good places to see on the west side of town. The castle is good, not just going up there for the views but also to go round. It's about €4 and well worth it. Genova caves are much less touristy than Drach, and you can even walk there from the castle through the forest (about an hour). The Pueblo Español is a sort of microcosm of Spain with the streets of all kinds of regions represented.

If you do go to Genova then try Can Pedro, an old-fashioned Majorcan restaurant where every family in Palma has been for some celebration or other. Lower down on the west side is Arroceria El Puente which has good fish/rice/lamb. For something simpler go to Nito's which is a slightly run-down chicken and chips place where the actual King of Spain eats when he's in town - see the photos on the wall (and the chicken is pretty good too).

If you are in town at 8pm then to to Bar Abaco at opening time (if DDs are not too young). The cocktails are at central London prices but the place is amazing.
